Trump is going down. And I no longer feel I have to knock on wood to say so.

We in the Democratic party had our skin ripped open on that night in 2016 when Donald Trump won the presidency. Most of us did not see it coming, and even the few of us who saw it coming, did not want to believe it was coming.

And now, we have scars that are so gnarled and hard, that sometimes it forbids us from feeling what is now, for fear someone will rip our skin open again.

But I am going to go on the freaking record---and am willing to eat multiple crow pies if I’m wrong---to say Trump is done. Really. I know it’s been said before, and that is part of his errant mystique. But  “errant” is the key word here---for so many reasons it bores me to repeat them all, except to say everyone has played into it in their own ways.

There is SO MUCH out there saying this is true. And that’s BEFORE the DOJ gets their hands on him, if they ever do. The bad and good news is, imo, we don’t need Merrick Garland to finish off Trump as far as the next election goes---but rather only to soothe our brows and hearts that this grifter and criminal will be held to the letter of the law. And yes, I hope for that too, but I don’t conflate it with his ability to run or win again. As surely, the DOJ will be far behind on all that.

Yes, Trump has announced he’s a candidate. And when he did, pretty much the whole world shrugged their shoulders, as in, really? YAWN. Other than the most salacious and desperate, the media did not rush to him, has not rushed to him. Which is a good thing for him, as he’s got absolutely nothing going on.

By all reports, he’s hold up in his bedroom in Mar-a-lago (hello, Howard Hughes) pathetically tweeting on Truth Social, and without any semblance of a team that can get him out of his room and back on the campaign trail. I mean, do we have to wonder at the quality of those who are still in his intimate thrall? Hell, even his daughter has deserted him---she who is now fat and happy with her husband’s multi-billion dollar deal with the Saudis. If she doesn’t need him anymore, well then…why the hell are we attached to him like some kind of hurt and humongous barnacle?

I won’t bore y’all with listing all the law suits and possible criminal charges he is facing. You know it all full well. And I know it infuriates many here that he is still a free man. Me too. But the mills of the gods grind slowly, way too slowly for we spoiled by an answer at the click of our devices. It took well over two years  to hold Nixon responsible for Watergate, and what a piddling that seems to be in comparison with Trump’s multi-sinaplex.

But imo, we need not wait for Garland, although we will hope he catches up some day. Fact is Trump is melting down before our eyes---like Oz’s wicked witch of the west---”what a world! “ Which seems to be similar to the sum total of his communications these days, and with about the same tone. One has to be somewhat blinded by their fears---perhaps like the flying monkeys---to not see it, and perhaps will not see it till Trump is a puddle at their feet.

Well, I’m just saying, he’s getting there, a couple of stops short of a puddle right now. And I guess I am growing weary in a way, of how much power this site still gives him. Out of fear, and out of anger. We complain about the press giving him too much air, we complain about the GOP afraid to not bow to him. But really, in a different way, we have followed suit. His twisted communications still make the rec list daily. Our anger over him in comments still pours out here daily. And really, while I get that, I also find it a bit suffocating.

I think we can do no greater service to the future than to begin our journey to get over our Trump fear RIGHT NOW. Because it is always about meeting your new problems and there will be plenty of them---like say DeSantis and the newly not yet minted republican house, and so many other things headed our way. And we can’t greet them with strength till we get over OUR FEAR of Trump. And that’s not about the media or the GOP, it’s about us.

Trump has always sucked the air out of the room, and it is fair to say for a long time, we didn’t know what had hit us, what to do about that. But I think now, we do know what to do about that, which is to be the FIRST to lead this country past Trump, and sweet Jesus, stop waiting for the GOP to do that.

The midterms should have given us the courage we need to believe that we’re on the right track. And yes, anything can happen in these next two years. EXCEPT, Trump is going to continue to be Trump and worse with every day---that we can count on. That is no longer anything we can say surprises us or leaves us unguarded.

So while Trump’s own people tip toe toward the inevitable, why don’t we leap over that steaming pile of shit and act as if he’s “nowhere man.” Because I believe he’s “nowhere man.” And the sooner we stop bowing to his spell, stop worrying about some sort of inevitability he’s barely even convincing his own people of anymore, the more ahead of the game we will be.

It’s about assuming a position of courage and belief---the same thing we’re asking of the GOP. We have been led by the nose by Trump for way too long. Let’s RELEASE and move on.

I don’t think we’ll be punished for that, in the way some might fear if we don’t fear. That we’ll be struck down again by what surprised us in 2016. Well, it’s not 2016. it’s a whole new world, or as Maya Angelou would say…

“This is a wonderful day. I’ve never seen this one before.”

And I’d like to see this site take on a whole lot more than the dying embers of Trump in the days to come.
